Happiness comes in threes! Family, Travelling and Birding.
While studies have found that the simple act of 'talking' about travel can boost a person's happiness, I've been able to not only talk the talk but walk the walk with visits to 85 countries and over 750 destinations (so far); And other mysterious studies have also shown that birding is solace for the soul. It's exciting and has been likened to a treasure hunt, where serendipitous discoveries energize those endorphins in the brain that ignite feelings of happiness. How can you not feel happy (and humbled) by an interaction with a Great Horned Owl (Ontario, Canada), a flock of Crested Ibis (Sado Island, Japan), a Cuban Trogon ( Zapata Peninsula, Cuba), a Potoo (San Blas, Mexico) and more.
I became hooked on birding during a visit to Soberania National Park in Panama in 2013 and have been very involved with birds and wildlife since that time. This website is my platform for sharing some of the joys of discovery that I've experienced and goes hand-in-hand with my travel website, www.gillicksworld.ca. To learn more about my travels, check out my book, A Symphony of Camels: Travel Adventures and Conversations Around the World, available in paperback and kindle from www.amazon.com/author/stevegillick
